Missouri Course Access and Virtual School Program (MOCAP) was established in 2007 as the state’s online school. It was previously known as the Missouri Virtual Instruction Program (MOVIP). Currently, MOCAP offers courses for K through 12th grade. Students can take courses from any Internet-connected computer, available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. MOCAP's mission is to offer Missouri students equal access to a wide range of high-quality courses, and interactive online learning that is neither time nor place dependent.
Sparta R-III Virtual Option:
Students will have the option of electing to take courses online that are taught by district teachers when possible.
Online Provider Alternative: With this alternative, Sparta R-III School District’s preferred provider is Launch. Launch is operated and overseen by Springfield Public Schools. Launch currently offers over 180 courses with full programming available for students in grades 6-12. Courses are designed by Missouri teachers and aligned to the state standards. A formal review process is built into all course development to ensure high quality and rigor.
In accordance with 161.670 RSMo and School Board policies - IGCD and IGCE, registration and payment for MOCAP online courses will be completed by Sparta R-III School District for those students whose enrollment has been approved by the district.
Parents or students interested in online courses should work with their school counselor to create the best plan of action for the individual student.
